Book Description Obyoy Azad, Dhaka / Cross-Cultural Communications, Merrick, 2008. Softcover. Condition: New. First Edition (Unstated). 63 pages. Softcover. New book. POETRY. Among Bangladeshi poets, Rafiq Azadstands out for his unwavering commitment too the "craft or sullen art" (Dylan Thomas's phrase) of versification. He is very much in the mainstream of the tradition of modern Bangla poetry in this country, which, after a fitful beginning in the 1940s, was set on a firm footing by Shamshar Rahman, Al Mahmud and Shaheed Quaderi. For over four decades now, Azad has been singlemindedly building up a substantial oeuvre that ranges over the perennial thems of poetry as well as the contingencies of our socio-political arena.
