Women's Issues are those with special relevance to women's lives: the history and contributions of women as a group and as individuals; women's experiences with government, with the medical, scientific, and educational establishments, and with cultural institutions such as the media; women's economic position, physical aspects of women's experience (such as childbirth, sexuality, and life-cycle changes) and women's role in family life; crimes with predominantly female victims, such as rape and domestic violence; and movements such as feminism_that seek to change women's lives. This bibliography focuses on how issues affect the lives of individual women, members of particular groups, and women in general in the United States. Arranged topically, the citations direct the reader to works by both women and men who write from a variety of political, cultural, and social perspectives.
