About the Author:

Children's Express is an international nonprofit media organization, founded in 1975, that produces stories by reporters (ages 8 to 13) and editors (ages 14 to 18) for adult print, broadcast, and interactive media. Headquartered in Washington, DC, CE operates US bureaus in New York City, New York; Washington, D.C.; and Marquette, Michigan. CE/UK operates bureaus in London, Newcastle, Sheffield, and Birmingham. Expansion plans are underway in many countries, including Japan, Germany, Northern Ireland, South Africa, the United States, and Vietnam. A Pulitzer Prize nominee, Children's Express has received Emmy, Peabody and Casey awards for outstanding journalism. CE also has an award-winning web site. Operating from working news bureaus or on travelling news teams, the approximately 650 Children's Express journalists develop the angles and follow stories from inception through amplification for the adult print and electronic media.

Review:

"Delicious and significant stuff...remarkably frank, perceptive and wise - and will tell you what children are really like. And perhaps how to get along with them better." -- Benjamin Spock, MD

"Gutsy, wry, poignant, vulnerable and staggeringly perceptive about the adult world. This giant-sized paperback is a treasure. (The children's) musings about war, TV, money, friendship, suicide, sex and families are sometimes shocking, often profane, and absolutely riveting for the adult reader." -- The Toronto Star
