Thayer is the author of several contemporary romances, including last year's Spirit Lost (LJ 9/15/88), and Morning (LJ 1/88), which deals with women's ability to conceive, artistically as well as literally. As with her earlier works, the plot and writing are often contrived, but this will entertain readers looking for a modern romance with some insights into human relations.

Despite Thayer's penchant for overly detailed and repetitious descriptions, her portrayal of Daphne's renewal as a woman capable of life on her own makes for engrossing and, at times, inspiring reading.
