In assessing the future of agricultural development, Schusky underscores the importance of economic and political policies that emphasize equity in distribution of wealth and government services. About the Author:

ERNEST L. SCHUSKY is a Professor in the Anthropology Department at Southern Illinois University. He has been involved in agricultural research projects in India, Jamacia, Cuba, Mexico, Taiwan, South Korea, and China. Dr. Schusky has also published on the famines in the Sahel and is currently working on an anthropological perspective on agriculture and the food policies of developing and developed countries.
