Soft Cover. Condition: Good. Limited Edition. Oversized trade paperback, 207 pages including black-and-white illustrations throughout, plus laid in a related photocopied newspaper article;---this is (handwritten, see below) number 1362 of 4000 copies;---this copy is strangely unique as it appears to be a hardcover copy with the hard spine intact but with the covers removed and replaced by a wraparound soft cover which has a colour photograph of Lubbock from the air covering the whole back, plus on the front three smaller colour photographs and the publisher's original paste-down "limited edition" label with what appears to be the author's signature (and the numeral 1362 in the same ink and handwriting), all of which is encased in an amateurish but effective non-removable protective plastic covering (whew! I ain't never seen nothing like this before! I can only assume that the hard covers were severely damaged in some way and a previous owner came up with this solution);---gentle bumping to exterior, eleven-line ink inscription inside front cover concerning "Sir John Lubbock", original newspaper article taped to pages 156/157, interior otherwise very clean and unmarked, pages fresh and white, overall a very good condition reading copy, but perhaps not gift quality due to its weirdness (unless your friend likes weird stuff).
