Synopsis
A pictorial history of Carlton County, Minnesota from about 1870 to 1939 including written history and photographs of industry, transportation, agriculture, people, and communities. It also includes a chapter on the great Cloquet/Moose Lake Forest Fires of 1918.

About the Author
Dr. Francis M. Carroll was born and grew up in Cloquet, Minnesota. He was educated at Carleton College, the University of Minnesota, and Trinity College, Dublin, and is a retired professor of history at the University of Manitoba. He has written or edited five books, including Crossroads in Time and The Fires of Autumn. Marlene Wisuri is the Director of the Carlton County Historical Society. She has graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Massachusetts and has taught photography and photo history at several colleges and universities. Her photographs have been exhibited in numerous one person and group exhibitions. Her previously published works include Dovetailed Corners, a collaborative work of poetry and photography.
