Oxford Bibl. Soc. New Series vol. xxii. The clergyman and author Robert Burton 1577-1640 also had a library, much of which went at his death to the Bodleian and Christ Church libraries. His library is of interest "mainly because it was assembled by the author of the Anatomy of Melancholy and contains annotations in his hand...[and also] because it was very large for the period and has survived almost intact with bits of information on dates of acquisition, prices paid, and former owners" Intro. xxvii .
