Synopsis
Jane Austen's family came from Kent and many of her relatives lived in the County. She visited them here from the age of 12 and it was in Kent that she gained so much of her experience of the Country House life of her time.This is the first book to deal specifically with her Kentish visits and those great houses in Kent which she came to know so well. It is also the first account of her close connection with Chevening and her derivation of Hunsford, Rosings, Mr Collins's parsonage and Lady Catherine de Bourgh from this location where her second cousin John Austen held the living.
