The book is a wondrous collection of Historical "What ifs" which accurately cover the most interesting and curious arenas of the war. Such questions as: What would have happened if Hitler decided to invade England, and could the German army have feasibly defeated Russia, and what might have happened if Germany had ever possessed Atomic technology, are answered. The book is not only inspiring but monumentaly fascinating. It also includes other strategies that the allied powers might have adopted during the war. A must for any interested and knowledgable WWII enthusiast. --A Customer
This book is an excellent collection of chapters on a variety of military theatres in World War 2. Some of the stories are more plausible than the others -- the Japanese landing in the Persian Gulf struck me as the least likely -- but they were all thought-provoking. Could the Germans have conquered Moscow by concentrating on the Soviet capital? Or would the poor roads of Eastern Europe always have limited their pre-Barbarossa build-up in 1941 - and thus limited how far they could have got in that first campaigning season? If the Germans had concentrated on the Mediterranean theatre, would they have driven the British out of Egypt? Could the Allies have lost at D-Day? And could the Germans have got the A-Bomb first? History always seems inevitable. The skill of some of the writers in this book, shows that it isn't like that at all. --A Customer
A great book to get alternative history information concerning the what ifs of WWII. The only downfall is determining where fact turns to fiction in some cases. Not enough concrete analysis of the potential fiction based on the actual facts. But, overall this is a good book and several chapters are excellent! --Larry Petersen
