Cornwall is among the most beautiful and varied counties in Britain. The images in Photographing Cornwall capture some of its most stunning locations: cliffs, stacks and arches of the coastline; beautiful beaches; heather-clad moors; wooded valleys; ancient farmed landscapes, and the remains of an industrial past. Cornwall is pictured through the seasons and revealed in all its moods. This book will appeal to all who love Cornwall, and are inspired by its landscape. Photographers will appreciate the provision of technical details for the images, and hints on taking landscape photographs.

About the Author:

One of Cornwall's most respected photographers, David Chapman has lived in the county for some twenty years, and is a trustee of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. A passion for photography and wildlife led him to write features for a number of magazines, and he has twice won double awards from the Outdoor Writers' Guild for photography and writing. His work is published regularly in Bird Watching magazine, Natural World, BBC Wildlife, and Bird Art and Photography, among others. He is the author of Wild about Cornwall, Penwith Moods, Exploring the Cornish Coast, Birds of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Wildflowers of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, St Ives and St Ives Bay, Inspirational Islands: The Isles of Scilly, A Cornish Year, and Walking in Penwith (all published by Alison Hodge). His photographs are stocked by a number of photographic libraries.

Review:

'From the fields upon fields of bright, golden daffodils shot against a moody blue sky, and ancient ruins perched on high cliffs or in dank green forests, to achingly stunning beach scapes, pastoral settings and grandiose ocean views of stormy waves crashing against jagged rocks; Chapman success fully captures the many facets of Cornwall through out the four seasons. - as much an intimate exploration of the beauty of Cornwall as it is a sublime exercise in exceptional landscape photography' (Outdoor Photography, July 2011) 'stunning images taken across Cornwall' (West Briton, 12.05.11) 'David Chapman's aim is always to "capture the varied spirit, atmosphere and beauty" of Cornwall with the photographs he takes. That he has succeeded is beyond doubt.' (Western Morning News, 03.06.11) 'David Chapman is a well-known name... editors have willingly used his considerable photographic abilities... They [the photographs] are indeed superb... he explains briefly what drew him to create each image, the challenges, and the equipment and exposures he used. Alison Hodge has employed her customary expertise in producing yet another first-rate Chapman book!' (Old Cornwall, vol. XIV, no. 6, Spring 2012) 'If you love Cornwall, and Chapman clearly does, then this is a book for you... 100 pages of spectacular images revealing the unusual beauty of one of Britain's most varied counties' (Outdoor Photography, May 2012) 'Arresting image follows arresting image... we see Cornwall in all its many moods... bounteous gardens, pure, stretching beaches, islands in balmy weather, turbulent skies, the rise of the sun and the fall of darkness. Nor is David Chapman jealous of his art: he happily provides technical details of how the shot was taken, and volunteers expert advice on landscape photography' (Evergreen, Autumn 2012) 'Each month we showcase some of the best photographs from some of Cornwall's most inspiring photographers. David Chapman's beautiful and stunning location shot [a two-page spread of The Carters off Holywell Bay] is typical of the beautiful photographs featured in his book Photographing Cornwall.' (myCornwall, Vol 2, issue 7, August/September 2011)
