William H. Freeman received his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 1972. For 30 years he has coached athletes from the junior high school to the post-collegiate levels. He has directed the decathlon and heptathlon competitions at three U.S. Olympics Trials and four NCAA Championships. Freeman has written extensively on training, including Coaching Track & Field, with coaching guru Bill Bowerman and The Competitive Runner's Training Book with Oregon Coach Bill Dellinger.
