This 1892 Catalogue of John Rabone & Sons was probably the most extensive publication concerning rules issued during the nineteenth century. Among the trades for which rules were offered are: architects, builders, carpenters, coachmakers, engineers, ironmongers, saddlers, shoemakers, surveyors and tailors. Materials included boxwood, ivory, metal and linen tape. Here again is an example of a special trade, developed to a high degree of perfection in England, that was introduced in America.
