As with the Shapes book, every artist invited to participate in the Colors book agreed. This is so unusual and speaks to the quality and value of the books. The author, who spent many hours finding the perfect works for each color, did not have to use pieces from her B list.
A portion of the proceeds from The Art of Colors for Children and Adults supports The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and its programs The book was produced by Cecil B. Widdifield.
The Art of Colors for Children and Adults is one of a trilogy. The Art of Shapes for Children and Adults is also available now; The Art of the Body will be available in September 1998.
Because this book focuses on colors the artworks selected are particularly bright, and therefore stimulating to children. Every page is different and thus a new experience or treat. They also love that the color words are translated into the four foreign languages of Spanish, French, German and Japanese.
I once again included text about each artists work, mostly as a gift to the parents. Once one has a baby it can be difficult to find the time to read for oneself; the short didactic-text is an opportunity for the adult reader to enjoy/benefit from a book that is also fun for the child. This book truly is for children and adults as the title states.
This book is very important to me, because it supports the arts, children, parents and families. I hope that you enjoy it as well. Please let us know what you think of it! Thank you.
