About the Author:

Martha Akers has advised an outstanding yearbook, the Saga, at Loudoun Valley High School in Purcellville, Virginia for 20 years. She has taught at student journalism conferences and workshops in 18 states and Canada and judges for state and national student awards programs.

Paul Ender has advised the nationally-known yearbook, the American, at Independence High School in San Jose, California for 23 years. Another widely respected instructor for summer workshops for yearbook editors and advisers, Ender is an art teacher and graphic designer. He was named National Yearbook Adviser of the Year in 1997.

Laura Schaub is an associate professor of journalism at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma where she also directs the Oklahoma Interscholastic Press Association to assist secondary school student editors and journalism teachers. She also teaches and directs summer workshops for yearbook staffs and advisers throughout the United States.
