She is the author of more than 80 books, including Into Another Time: Grand Canyon Reflections, Sandino's Daughters: Testimonies of Nicaraguan Women in Struggle, and Stones Witness and the first recipient of PEN New Mexico's Dorothy Doyle Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing and Human Rights Activism. She lives in New Mexico.
