About the Author:

Herman Beck-Chenoweth developed the Modern American Free-Range System for chickens and turkeys on his family farm. He has raised and sold over 4000 chickens and 500 turkeys per year direct to restaurants and consumers. He also raised 2000 egg-layers, 5 acres of vegetables, dairy goats and cattle. He us a regular contributor to American Small Farm and Farming magazines and has written for the Mother Earth News. He has recieved national recognition for his contributions to sustainanble agriculture and has lectured widely on diversified farming, vegetable production and direct farm marketing. He lives and farms in the Missouri Ozarks.
