Book Description Fiddlehead Poetry Books, Fredericton, 1973, 1973. McINNIS, R.F.M. The Renegade's Lament: a poem. Fredericton: Fiddlehead Poetry Books, 1973. Pp. (2),[1]-12,(2). 8vo, stapled card covers. "R.F.M. McInnis is a painter and art teacher who for three years was the head of the art department of Prince George College, a non-denominational integrated and Indian residential college in northern B.C., run by the Oblate Missionary Fathers. This poem is the result of three years of close living with the Indian people and their struggles both in the class room and at their homes on various reserves througout northern B.C. The illustrations accompanying the poem are from the reserves that inspired its writing. The poem itself was inspired by the life of a young friend and student named Mike, from the Hagwilget Reserve in Hazelton B.C., in whom the struggles for understanding of the way of life forced upon the Indian is particularly epitomized. The author was born in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1942 and now lives in Powell River, B.C." -from the rear cover. Minor soiling to front, creasing along spine, else vg. 20.00.
