Traintravel in Newfoundland has a certain `reputation' in the rest of Canada. 94 pages including index of names. Pages 45 to 79 recount a variety of disasters (and near accidents) that took place in the period 1944 to 1960 - among them some wee wind caused. Moose, of course, get a mention. Another important element are the rail connections at seaports. LEARN more about : Albert Lethbridge, Harpoon Tramway, North Sydney, shunter, tender, air-brake, and Trinity Train Loop. Plenty of b/w archive and modern photographs. One map in introduction. Cond : Paper wrapper is rust coloured, lettering blue. Back cover photo of author as conductor. Front cover shows C.N.R.'s #593 the Caribou under full steam. Two light corner bumps. Card of author taped to front cover - verso. Someone has used the volume for research so there are 11 pages with minor pink hi-liter marks. Tight, bright, clean, no tears. Excellent reference ! Quote (p. 20) : "._._. on June 29th at 7:00 P.M. It took 27 hours and 45 minutes to cover the 547 mile route to Port aux Basques. This made the system complete, enabling passengers and mail to connect with the international railway in Nova Scotia.
