The original version of 'Okinawan Kempo' was first written by Choki Motobu in 1926.
He did so at the request of his Japanese friends and because this was the same year that he became famous in Japan when he accepted an open challenge from a Russian fighter at a fighting exhibition and won. The subsequent publicity of his victory in the biggest newspaper in Japan made Choki Motobu a living legend.
'Okinawan Kempo' teaches fighting combinations as well as a brief history of karate as Choki Motobu knew it. The photos of the original book were of a very poor quality and although they have been restored as best as possible, there are still flaws.

Motobu was well known for his self defence skills and this book displays just that.Review:
