Synopsis
At the age of 27, Hungarian Leslie Aparvary was sold to the French Foreign Legion for 600 francs and began a two-year odyssey with what has been called the world's toughest army where the value of a life is tantamount to zero. Much of his enlistment was spent fighting in Indochina (Vietnam). Leslie's journal is a gripping account of a Hungarian youth driven away by persecution and deprived of a home and country.

The author left his home in Hungary at age 27 - the year was 1948 - he spent much of the next two years with the Legion in North Vietnam. A few b/w photos of Asia and his Legion comrades complement text. Each chapter begins with a map. Read more about : Skikda, Sidi-Bel-Abbes, Cao-Bang, Marco Street Prison, Moi, Steve Bidon, Captain Danjou, and Little Angel. Cond : Paper wrapper is white with green lettering. Front cover graphic is a Legionnaire's kepi and a map of the old world. Light wear and bumps at some edges. No names, marks, creases, nor tears. Spine fine, binding tight. Excellent reading copy.
