Synopsis
In this Franklin Classic Storybook, Franklin sets off to Bear's house for a birthday party, but it's far from a straightforward journey. Like most preschoolers, Franklin is a dawdler, slow even for a turtle. The trip becomes an opportunity to play leapfrog with Rabbit, slip and slide in the mud with Otter, and maybe even play hide-and-seek with Fox. But just in time, Franklin remembers that he mustn't be late for Bear's special day.

About the Author
Paulette Bourgeois is the author of more than 40 books for children, including the In My Neighborhood series and Oma's Quilt. She lives in Toronto, Ontario.

PreS --A Disneyesque turtle, rabbit, fox, and otter illustrate this trite story of a turtle who is always late, and who is distracted by his friends while on the way to the home of his friend Bear. The language is unimaginative, the story thin, and the ending predictable--Franklin is on his way to a birthday party for Bear. Woodland yellows and greens predominate, and the background settings are far more pleasing than the animals in the foreground, all of whom lack character or personality.
