Everyday, teens from all walks of life have to make choices. Many of these choices can have long reaching outcomes, both positive and negative. Over the past 20 years of coaching, mentoring and teaching teens, Dave has seen many teens become happy and successful despite significant adversity, while others, from more positive environments flounder and are swept off a successful course in life. Successful teenagers have certain character traits and habits. In My Wish: Don t Get Swept Away As A Teen Boon describes, through his own experiences and real life stories, the skills necessary to overcome challenges, to make good decisions and how to succeed as a teen today. As Dave explains in the Preface --- My calling in life is to save kids lives. I cannot stand to lose a kid to drugs, alcohol or crime and it hurts me to my very soul to see young people not reach their full potential in life. I work with at risk youth, but show me a youth that is not at risk in today's world! I prefer to say that I work with children and teens with unmet potential. I have only one goal through my presentations at schools, my web site, this book, and my interaction with kids on a daily basis. That goal, my purpose in life, my wish, is to help teens and young adults discover their gifts and their direction in life. I want each and every one of them to become a healthy, happy, and productive member of our world. I don t want them to get swept away by drugs, alcohol or negative associations. That is why I wrote this book. That is my purpose that is my wish!

Dave, his wife June, and a family teenage friend survived a horrific event on January 6, 2007 when a Class IV avalanche came down and crushed their car blasting them off Highway 40 on Berthoud Pass, over the guard rail and down a 40% slope. They rolled over an over until they snapped a tree in half and came to a stop, buried alive and upside down, over 300 feet from where the avalanche first hit them. Their miracle survival was highlighted on The Today Show, CNN, MSNBC, USA Today and Oprah. This amazing survival story is described in Chapter 1 of My Wish: Don t Get Swept Away As A Teen.
Dave is convinced that he survived for a reason. Today his life work is focused on teaching goals, good choices and value based decisions in order to place everyone, but especially our youth on the road to hope and happiness.
Some people are devoted to career while others are dedicated to leisure. Dave Boon's passion is to get teenagers excited about making good choices. This purpose goes beyond himself and even his own career...it was to assist teenagers on their path to happy and productive lives.
Dave has coached national champions in two different sports, spoken at a White House conference by invitation of the Vice President of the United States, and traveled the world s largest sand desert as a teen. Dave's innovative ideas and successful programs have been featured in The New Yorker and Shape magazines and highlighted by award winning Wall Street Journal reporters, Bob Davis and David Wessel, in Prosperity: The Coming 20 Year Boom and What It Means to You. Dave conducts leadership presentations throughout the United States and in Europe. Dave enjoys river rafting, snow skiing, tennis, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with his wife June.Review:
As a psychologist and life coach, I can't think of a more practical guide than My Wish for adolescents to use as they journey through the difficult years of becoming a happy and fulfilled adult. --Lloyd Thomas, Ph.D. and author of Total Life Coaching
