After four years of working as a chef, she attended Suffolk County Community College for journalism, where she was editor in chief of the eastern campus newspaper, and received first place in the SCCC Creative Writing Contest for her short story, Blood Orange. She currently attends Stony Brook University as an English major, and works as a private piano and violin instructor.Review:
Rachel Bohlman finds challenging topics and treats them successfully. She writes about relationships and her boyfriend, a pet peeve or two and takes some part-ing shots at parents. I d call her a bright, shining new-comer in the poetry community. Tom Stock, Mentor and Poet. --Writers Ink Press
It takes courage to be a poet, and Rachel has plenty of that to go with her considerable poetic talents. She has used some of her deepest memories and emotions as Kindling to spark her fine poems, each moving to-ward building diamond-strength bonds. David B. Axelrod, Suffolk County Poet Laureate --Writers Ink Press
