“In our dollar-oriented and materialistic world, the subject of heaven has been relegated to the back burner.” —J. Oswald Sanders
Heaven. It’s a topic we don’t often discuss; and when we do, we’re not exactly sure what to think. As author J. Oswald Sanders neared the end of his own life, he was curious too. So he searched Scripture to find out what it said about heaven being the final home for believers. He gathered biblical insights for himself as well as to share with you about the timeless topic of eternity and what that looks like.
Written in a question and answer format, Heaven Better by Far is an easy-to-read book that will answer your questions about heaven and eternity. You’ll find answers directly from Scripture regarding common questions like:
What is death anyway?
How do we gain entrance into heaven?
Will we know one another in heaven?
What will we do in heaven?
Challenge the popular notions about heaven and find out from a biblical perspective what awaits believers at the end of our earthly life.

Heaven: Better By Far is a rare digest of biblical insights into the timeless topic of heaven, and the finale of one who prepared himself for nearly a century for that day when he would experience how heaven is better by far.
If your idea of heaven is having a "mansion just over the hilltop," J. Oswald Sanders has important news for you. While heaven will provide a final home for those who love God, the author of Heaven: Better By Far explains that "so incredibly glorious is heaven that we are compelled to express it in negations and symbols of grandeur and majesty." He says the popular view--that heaven is like the most luxurious place we know, only better--falls far short of reality.
Recognizing that he was near heaven's gates, Sanders approached the subject with more than a scholarly interest. His honesty caused him to challenge some popular notions, and his personal curiosity prompted him to address many relevant questions, such as:
What is Death Anyway?
How Do We Gain Entrance to Heaven?
Is Heaven a Place or a State of Mind?
Will We Know One Another in Heaven?
What Will Our Resurrection Bodies Be Like?
What Will We Do in Heaven?
What Will Heaven Be Like?
Will Mansions Be Awaiting Us?

Book Description Discovery House Publishers, U.S.A., 1993. Soft cover. Condition: New. Synopsis: What will heaven really be like? A book to uplift those who are facing death themselves or wondering where their friends have gone. Review: This is the last book in the long and distinguished writing career of that eminent New Zealand theologian and missionary leader J O Sanders. He finished it barely a month before his death last year at the age of 90. As he puts it in the introduction, "Some little time ago, I realised that as I was getting perilously close to becoming nonagenarian, and that my next major stop would be heaven, I had better become more acquainted with my future home!" The result is a book that is not only great for those knocking on heaven's door, but also those of us with (God willing) decades to go in this life. Inevitably the book is incomplete. The author, at the time of writing, hadn't actually experienced the place he was writing about. But there is enough there to whet the appetite and heighten the expectation of that great day when we shall be ushered into the presence of Jesus.-Vic Francis, Challenge Weekly.
