Sam Durango is riding high. He's the star of the TV western "The Vegas Kid," he's married to a glamorous actress, and he lives in a beautiful home in the Hollywood Hills. And then everything goes to hell in a hand-basket. When his show is cancelled and his wife leaves him (taking most of his money and the house, while she's at it), Sam finds he has to make his way out in the cold cruel world.
Along the way Sam meets up with a ragtag cast of characters, including Sam's arch-rival Buck Beaumont, a mystery woman, a couple of escaped cons, and some of the sharpest gamblers west of the Mississippi--and they're all after one thing, to score the big jackpot at Blackies Casino on Halloween night.

This was my first novel. I started writing it in the early 1980s when I was going through a divorce, needed surgery on my back, and was working at a dead-end job. This book was my escape from reality. Slowly, and thankfully, my life began to change and I set the manuscript aside. Then, ten years later, I picked it up and began to write again. The result is "The Vegas Kid." I think you'll like it.About the Author:
Barney Vinson was born in the U.S.A. raised in Texas, and moved to Las Vegas a long time ago. He worked as a dice dealer at the old Dunes Hotel, then went to Caesars Palace where he was the casino gaming instructor for another long time. He lives in a small house by the side of the road with the Vegas skyline in the distance and writes full-time, while his wife Debbie works and pays the bills; they take in stray cats by appointment only. Vinson is the author of 23 books (eight of which have been published); The Vegas Kid is his first novel.
