The Buddhist Priest Myoe: A Life of Dreams is a work about Myoe, a Japanese priest of the thirteenth century. It is about his life, his dreams, and his dream life, all of which are inseparable and ultimately one. In examining the personal odyssey of this extraordinary spirit, particularly the Dream Diary that Myoe maintained over a span of thirty-five years, Dr. Kawai transcends biography to explore the relationships between reason and experience, science and religion, sexuality and spirit-uality, individual creativity and community, and the world views of the East and West. Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A NF+ book in a NF-/VG+ dust jacket. Appears to be a First Edition/ First Printing as no other editions or printings are listed. Very rare indeed. Book has mild bumping to base of the spine and a thin, 1" line/surface indention on front panel else clean, unmarked, tight and square. Jacket has light to normal shelf wear, a 1-1 1/2 line (looks like blue crayon mark) on front, lower panel near spine, price sticker residue on upper spine (also likely removable with know how) and some light creasing to wrap around/inner flaps else fully intact, bright and clean with no further markings or tears.
