Dorothy Brown Thompson published over two thousand poems, adult and juvenile, serious and light, in more than a hundred magazines and newspapers. Ten were published as songs and twenty-five transcribed in Braille. More than two hundred of her poems for young readers are reprinted in textbooks for schools in the US, England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Malaysia and Sweden.
This volume gathers over 130 of her favorites to portray the variety and timeliness of her creative works.

The late Dorothy Brown Thompson received her bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas. She has been on the staffs of Writer's Conferences at the University of Kansas; McKendree College at Lebanon, Illinois; Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg, Missouri and Creighton University at Omaha, Nebraska.
Among her close friends were a small group of verse writers, who met once a month to read and criticize each other's verse. Some of the poems in this book were read first at Diversifiers meetings.
