Synopsis
California was once served by an impressive array of public transportation. Steam, and later Diesel powered trains carried freight and passengers to and from the Golden State, and also between dozens of cities throughout California. In the cities, local streetcars carried commuters, shoppers, and school children to work, to the store, and to school. Suburban and commuter electric trains carried people to and from the suburbs., and interurban electric trains ran between some of the larger cities in our state. A visit to the Orange Empire Railway Museum is a journey into the past - the recent past - for it was only yesterday that rail transportation was an important part of our lives, Welcome back to another era.
