Lynn Kernan grew up in rural Appalachia, the daughter of a Presbyterian Minister. She studied drama at Mary Baldwin College and later got a Masters in Fine Arts degree at Keane State College. Kernan struggled with chronic pain following a back injury while teaching art to inner city high school students. She coped by creating an exquisite portfolio of visual arts in a variety of media (one of her superb collages adorns the cover of this book), and by writing poetry for 2 hours a day from 1974 until her death in 2002. Though her work appeared in many journals, including Pivot, Bohemian Bridge, Potomac Review, and the WV Anthology Wild Sweet Notes, this is the first full book of her poems.Review:
