Flash Cards of Common Freshwater Invertebrates of North America Set One - Major Classes and Orders consists of 32 cards, 30 of which feature a high-quality scientific illustration of an organism on one side and, on the other, the common and scientific names of the organism along with basic questions and answers about the biology, ecology, and environmental tolerances of the pictured organism. In addition, a booklet containing a glossary of terms, diagrams of body parts for the different taxa, an outline of the taxonomy of all taxa in the three sets, and suggestions for using the cards is also included. Set One covers the major classes and orders of freshwater invertebrates. This set would be basic to teaching/learning biology and ecology at the K-12 levels, for interpretation and outreach activity, and for biomonitoring of freshwater streams and ponds. The 4 inch wide by 6 inch high cards are printed in full color on synthetic material with uv-resistant ink.

"They are an incredible assent in the field, they are large so even our preschool audience can use them easily. The markings are clear, and they are waterproof and sturdy, which is perfect since you are in a water setting. Love it!"- Katie Nainiger, Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District, Ohio "The flash cards are an excellent resource for teaching about aquatic invertebrates in the field. They are simple to use and provide clear, easy to understand information. The images are perfect for basic identification!"- Lisa Bickell, Education Director, Montana Natural History Center "We have used the cards numerous times for Envirothon training and classroom programs. They were used in the classroom as well as in the field during presentations to grades 5-12. All teachers and resource people have commented on their usefulness. The pictures and details of the invertebrates are excellent and we have found that the majority of them are the exact ones we need for our various programs."- Ricky Hayes, Resource Conservationist, Wilson Soil & Water Conservation District, North Carolina
