Contains capsule biographies of every person portrayed on a U.S. stamp between 1847 and 1990. Some of the more than 400 alphabetically arranged biographies are so obscure that even encyclopedias fail to mention them. Each biography is illustrated with the appropriate stamp in this reference book.

Dr. Richard Louis Thomas is a retired ophthalmologist who lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. He has been a stamp collector since the early 1930s, when he searched incoming parcels in the back room of his father's jewelry store for his favorite stamp, the 14¢ American Indian definitive of 1923. He prefers to call this the Hollow Horn Bear stamp. Thomas' initial fascination with this one stamp led to a more general interest in people depicted on stamps, and their stories. This in turn led to the preparation of a workbook from which his Who's Who on U.S. Stamps columns in Linn's Stamp News were drawn. In 1991, Linn's published 413 of Thomas' capsule biographies in a book titled Who's Who on U.S. Stamps. More Who's Who on U.S. Stamps continues where the best-selling Who's Who on U.S. Stamps left off. Taken together, Who's Who and More Who's Who contain biographies of virtually every individual depicted or honored on a U.S. stamp between 1847 and 1992. Thomas was born April 28, 1918, in Fairbury, Nebraska. He graduated from Hebron High School in 1935 and Hebron Junior College in 1937. He received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Nebraska in 1937 and a bachelor of science in medicine from the University of Nebraska in Omaha in 1943. He received his doctor of medicine from the University of Nebraska in Omaha in 1943 and interned at St. Joseph College, Omaha. Thomas was in the 97th Division, 386th Regiment in World War II. He served as regimental surgeon in the 3rd Army with General George Patton. Following the war, he served in Japan with Douglas MacArthur. He was discharged in 1946. Thomas served his residency in ophthalmology at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis and practiced ophthalmology in Lincoln, Nebraska, from 1950 to 1979, when he retired to Scottsdale. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, 1954; Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, 1955: Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, 1957; and Diplomat, International Congress of Ophthalmology, 1960. He is a member of the American Philatelic Society, American Philatelic Society Writers' Unit No. 30, American Topical Association, Perfins Club, Butterfly and Moth Stamp Club of Great Britain, Arizona Precancel Club and Westminster Village Stamp Club in Scottsdale. His writing experiences include columnist for Linn's Stamp News and Canadian Connection. He also contributes articles to the American Philatelist, journal of the American Philatelic Society; Topical Time, journal of the American Topical Association; and Swallowtail, journal of the Butterfly and Moth Stamp Club.
