Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+. Ernest Kenton (illustrator). First Edition. 8 3/4" X 11 1/4." 212 pages. The pages of this book give us a true picture of the days that are gone, of a time passed into history. The author was born on Christmas day in 1888 in her wilderness home on Hilliard Island where bears and panthers roamed. The pioneer child began listening to the tales of her neighboring settlers and had the foresight to record them for future generations. The author's daughter, Mildred, saved her mother's interesting, as well as educational, handwriten pages. Mildred later married Lorenzo Haywood Crow. The two traveled many miles on Indian trails, stopping at the homes of the old timers to record their way of life in the wilderness. These, along with her own childhood esperiences, are outlined in this exciting firsthand chronicle of pioneer life in early Florida. Light scratches on dust jacket front. Bottom corners slightly worn. Seller Inventory # 004057
