John Burman, director Star Power, is also The Hollywood Reporter's international news editor, serving as point man for the paper's overseas coverage, coordinating its foreign bureaus and correspondents.
In 1998, Burman oversaw the return of the paper's revised Star Power and Director Powersurveys. The reports received global coverage in media outlets that included, in the United States, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Daily News, CBS Morning News, Access Hollywood, and E! News Daily.
International outlets that covered the reports included, in England, the London Evening Standard, the Independent, the Daily Mail, the Guardian and the BBC News Web site; in Germany, Blickpunkt: Film; in Mexico, Mexico City Daily Reforma; in China, Apple Daily; and, in France, Mister Biz on M6.
Since 1994, Burman has also been involved as an editor and reporter for the trades satellite editions at the Cannes film festival and MIFED film markets.
Before joining THR, Burman worked at the Los Angeles Times and KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. He has contributed freelance pieces to such publications as Entertainment Weekly and Sabena Airlines' Passport magazine.
A 1990 graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in journalism, Burman joined The Hollywood Reporter in 1989 as an intern in the International Department and in 1992 was promoted to the position of assistant international editor.
