As we race toward the year 2000, life expectancy is approaching 80 rather than the 50 of the turn of this century. Although our parents are living longer, family support for the elderly has changed dramatically. Aging Parents and You, completely updated, offers information and tools to help grown children and their parents stay healthy and independent for as long as possible.

In the first part of this book, Briles (a formerly divorced financial planner) lays out what a woman can expect: judges, lawyers, child custody and support, alimony, determination of assets, and mediation/arbitration. Not forgetting psychology, she urges women to seek out divorce therapists for help. The financial advice in the second section, covering a wide range of money topics (credit, taxes, stocks, collectibles, annuities), is introductory at best. It would have helped if the bibliography had cited financial works as well as those on divorce. Despite some stylistic irritants and too much bragging by Briles about her history, this book is sure to have a big audience, judging by the divorce rate. Alex Wenner, Indiana Univ. Lib., Bloomington
