This manual was written as a result of my experience teaching the Principles of Exercise Prescription to cardiac rehabilitation personnel. It's been a long time since high school algebra for most health care professionals trying to use Metabolic Equations in Appendix D of the Guidelines. Many of them found that they benefited by having step-by-step instructions and practice problems with detailed explanations of the answers. This manual is intended as a self-instructional supplement to the American College of Sports Medicine's book Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription.
