About the Author:

Gordon West has been a licensed ham radio operator for more than 50 years, call sign WB6NOA. He holds the highest FCC amateur radio license, Extra Class, as well as the highest FCC commercial radio operator license, the First Class General Radiotelephone Certificate with RADAR endorsement. He is a fellow of the Radio Club of America; a life member of the American Radio Relay League; and teaches amateur licensing seminars on a regular schedule. The ARRL named him "Instructor of the Year," and the Dayton Amateur Radio Association named him their "2006 Amateur of the Year" for his efforts in recruiting and training new amateurs, in addition to his lifelong involvement in ham radio.
