Review what happened before the flop, who raised, who called a raise, what position was the raiser and what position(s) were the callers. There are a great many possibilities to consider. A lot of times the best solution is quite clear and other time it is a real puzzler. The most important fact is that sometimes you can avoid losing some checks if you think hard enough. This technique is important.
