Sweeney Astray is Seamus Heaney's version of the medieval Irish work Buile Suibne. Its here, Mad Sweeney, undergoes a series of purgatorial adventures after he is cursed by a saint and turned into a bird at the Battle of Moira. Heaney's translation not only restores to us a work of historical and literary importance but offers the genius of one of our greatest living poets to reinforce its claims on the reader of contemporary literature.

Book Description Field Day, 1983. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. A fine square and tight hardcover copy in a very good to near fine dustjacket/brodart covered, First Edition. The dustjacket has very light edgewear to top of dustjacket spine and top edge of dustjacket. The publisher's laminated dustjacket show's crackling throughout. I do not know if this is a publisher flaw or was done on purpose. Otherwise, the dustjacket is very nice, clean and bright. An interesting gift inscription appears on the blank page after the title page. = We ship all books with Delivery Confirmation. = We have been selling Used Books for over 27 years.
