1990, mass market British paperback reprint edition, No Exit Press, U.K. 189 pages. The talented author is best known for his many tense, serious suspense novels. Here is one of his lighter themed Bernie Rhodenbarr burglar titles. A book dealer who happens to be a thief on the side. This time out, he's just found the jewels he's looking for. Unfortunately, their beautiful owner lies dead as a door nail right next to him. Good stuff.

From AudioFile

Bernie Rhonenbarr, the dry-witted cat burglar who has been involved in petty crime "ever since (he) stopped being a kid," is back in another clever tale. Again the author's reading of his own work adds to the enjoyment. The robbery of the apartment of his dentists's ex-wife turns Bernie into a detective to save his own hide. Block is a New Yorker and cleverly incorporates the city's locales into his stories. This audio comedy-mystery should bring Block even more fans. S.I.R. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
