Publisher's original green textured cloth, black color pictorial dust jackets, lettered in white on the spines and front covers, sm folio. These volumes present the first definitive account of the avifauna of the eastern half of New Guinea (Papua New Guinea) and the Bismarck Islands. Field descriptions, details of distribution, habitats frequented, altitudinal ranges and relative abundance of all 740 bird species recorded from the islands are presented. The gap in publication between the first and second volumes (5 years) has made the complete set more difficult to obtain. No ownership marks and no signs of use.
