We published the book titled PSYCHOLOGICAL DOG TRAINING and BEHAVIOR CONDITIONING with RESPECT and TRUST by C.W. Meisterfeld with the primary goal was to instruct dog owners especially those with puppies ‘How To’ prevent dog behavioral problems from being developed caused by Alpha Leader of the Pack, to hang’um, or use a rubber hose on aggressive dogs. Those abusive and dangerous training methods were just starting to take hold (1975) in the U.S., where they first originated. Also to share the How’s and Why’s of the psychological principals he once taught in his 8 week group obedience classes in PETaluma California over 35 years ago. The title Psychological Dog Training was originally published under the title How’s and Why’s of Psychological Dog Training by C. W. Meisterfeld in May 1977. Nothing needed to be rewritten or deleted because the principles of Mutual Respect and Trust (Train Without Pain) are identical to when he discovered that all our dogs have a very unique genetic behavioral instinct of willingness to please and serve the human race without any form of punishment. This W.T.S. is what separates our dogs from all other animals including the wild wolf. There are no domesticated wolves!

In order to enhance the information we published in Meisterfeld’s first book we did add his ‘10 Commandment for Dog Ownership to Prevent Behavior Problems’; also various testimonials with photos from dog owners who’s dogs lives were saved due to his Train Without Pain philosophy plus the dangers of "Modern Puppy Socialization and Training Classes" with a descriptive photograph.

Ironically, this book, Psychological Dog Training is what caused a S.P.C.A. director in New Zealand to fax Dr. Meisterfeld and asked him to return to New Zealand to help eradicate the Alpha Leader of the Pack Dominant Training concepts at all levels in their country i.e. the Massey Veterinary University, Kennel Clubs, Dog Pounds,(councils), Other S.P.C.A.’s, and animal rescue groups. Her research proved that the Alpha Leader of the Pack training was the main cause of New Zealand’s increasing dog attacks and why the increasing number of dogs were turned over to the S.P.C.A. due to behavioral problems.

Regarding "a reader" comment "unsure about the credentials of the author as sometimes he claims to be a doctor and other times not."

Yes, he does not always mention his Doctorial degree, possibly because it is not of the academia world but Theology, the spiritual link between mankind and ‘Man’s Best Friend’. In addition, Meisterfeld is a legally Ordained Minister licensed by the state of California.

We would like to point out that any pioneer in his field does not have any source of school available to him and has to beat his own individual path to truth and knowledge. (Consider the Wright brothers who flew an airplane yet had no pilot’s license)
