This book is an outgrowth of the author's wanting others to see and enjoy what he had experienced in his travels thru Georgia. No Place stays the same forever. Buildings rise and fall, people come and go and change cannot be denied. All these forces are hard at work in Georgia. But underneath all this hammering and chugging, this striving and stretching, flows a river of continuity which binds the people together in a way that is not easily explained. For there is a feeling among the Georgian people that doesn't seem to have changed much in decades upon decades. Somehow there is a feeling generated wehen a pople have a sense of their boundaries and an actual first-hand feeling of their soil. It ids the kind of thing that bonds strangers together and gives them a willingness to seek a commen ground. That ground is Georgia, the home place.
