"Cherokee Hymnbook, New Edition for Everyone; Tsalagi Dikanogisdi Goweli, Atse Nigadiyu Idasdelidodi." This work is based on the Cherokee Hymnbook that was first printed in 1829, and contains 143 hymns in Cherokee syllabary, Cherokee phonetics and new English translations. Every hymn features Cherokee phonetics set to shaped-note tunes that can easily be sung in Cherokee language. "That little book was there with our people at Removal, and it got our people through some miserable times. Our songs need to continue, and with this book, it gives them some solid backbone," said James Taylor, executive director of the Museum. "We hope that these books inspire more people to sing songs in Cherokee, and that because of the new translations they will understand the deeper meaning behind the words."
