Dark green stiff paper covers with slight scuffing to paper at ends of spine fold. Interior pages are bright and clean. Binding is firm. A near fine copy of a quite uncommon museum publication. With brief Foreword by The Alexandria Association President Wilton C. Corkern, Jr., Acknowledgements, b/w photographs and illustrations, and Selected Bibliography. Pages 5-17 feature the primary title essay authored by guest curator Oscar P. Fitzgerald in which he examines the history and production of three generations of the Green family: founder William Green, son James Green, and grandchildren John W. Green and Stephen A. Green. Fitzgerald's "Catalogue of the Exhibition" on pages 19-57 reviews thirty-six company items including such furniture forms as sideboards, a bookcase, desks, wardrobes, chairs, a couch, bureaus, tables, a settee, beds, and sofas most of which were included in the 1986 exhibit. The prominent family firm operated in the Old Town district of Alexandria, Virginia from 1817 to 1887 and produced furniture in the Empire, Rococo Revival, Renaissance Revival, and Eastlake styles.
