Read all about Sound-based Therapy and learn
 how problems with autism, Asperger s, ADHD, coordination and balance, speech impairment, Dyslexia, gross and fine motor skills development, and focus/directions relate to hearing and listening
 what sound therapy really is and how it stimulates the voice-ear-brain connection
 why some therapies are more appropriate for certain listening and behavioral challenges than others
 thorough explanations of the leading sound therapies used today -- AIT (Auditory Integration Training), Tomatis®, The Fast ForWord Series, The Listening Program , Interactive Metronome®, Samonas , Earobics , and BioAcoustics
 the considerations in developing a proper sequence of therapies that meets your needs

Ms. Davis-Kalugin is exceptionally qualified to explain these matters as she is the only audiologist in the U.S. trained and able to deliver the full range of sound therapies available to children with learning and behavioral challenges. These sound therapies include AIT (Auditory Integration Training), Tomatis®, The Fast ForWord Series, The Listening Program , Interactive Metronome®, Samonas , Earobics , and BioAcoustics .
The book has 4 sections. The first reviews the supporting scientific information. The second discusses the various sound therapies in use today. The third pulls all the information together and details the author s "Tree of Sound Enhancement Therapy®" concept. And the book concludes with a chapter of personal successes and challenges presented in various cases.

From the Author:

Sound Bodies through Sound Therapy is based upon my hypothesis that there is an important foundation and order to the use of sound-based therapies and that success will only happen when they are provided in the correct manner. Additionally, my hypothesis is based on my 35-plus years of experience, independent research, and the combined areas of scientific research of the brain, the ear, sound, and energy medicine.
Sound Bodies through Sound Therapy is written for the non-professional in the hope that I may offer new insight into sound and its impact on the body. I also hope that professionals will be challenged by what they read. I encourage future researchers to be open to my findings and hope that they will be able to build upon this tree.
I invite the reader to explore this new world of sound-based therapies with an open mind. See for yourself how science and logic give credence to this emerging field. Enjoy the harmony that the knowledge will provide. We are only at the beginning.

From the Back Cover:

Sound Bodies through Sound Therapy details how sound-based therapies play an instrumental role in the successful treatment of the symptoms related to autism, apraxia, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, hyperlexia, Central Auditory Processing Disorder, learning disorders, and is a guide toward achieving one's maximum potential for development and wellness.
Despite years of practice and the evolution of various versions of sound therapies, the quintessential missing element has been the lack of a set protocol to follow. By distinguishing the differences between sound therapies, Sound Bodies through Sound Therapy sets the framework for the application of an effective therapy program.
Davis' work is based on data from various scientific fields. Sound Bodies through Sound Therapy begins by reviewing the physics of sound, auditory processing, the details of existing sound therapies and goes on to reflect the personal successes and challenges presented in various cases as documented by several families. The value of its contents is sure to leave both the professional and layperson enlightened and stimulated.
"Davis distills her 35-plus ears of experience, along with independent findings, and some scientific research of the workings of the brain and the ear, into a detailed readable and entirely useful work...she uses facts and research, and not philosophical rambling to make her point." -5-Star Review from Foreword Reviews Magazine
"...your chapter concerning Auditory Integration is absolutely remarkable, and it has been a pleasure for me to discover all that you have found from my work. The tests concerning the acoustic reflex are very interesting; I knew this action but never tried to calculate it.
I agree 100% with your conclusions that AIT has a purely mechanical action, in strengthening the weak muscles of the ears, leading to the structural changes...the study you highlighted concerning the blood flow in the brain confirms my theory, on which I was working on 20 years ago. Absolutely excellent!" - Dr. Guy Bérard, author of Hearing Equals Behavior and founder of AIT
"In Sound Bodies through Sound Therapy, Dorinne Davis educates us in the essential role of the ear, speech and movement, inspires us with new potentials of sound and music in therapy, and delights us with a wealth of references. No one can any longer deny the power of sound as fundamental and essential for a balanced life." - Don Campbell, author of The Mozart Effect
