This is not a skill-specific book. The content will not teach the reader how to kick a field goal, hit a home run, serve an ace, stick a dismount, or perform any other athletic feat. Rather, the book aims to help student-athletes improve--physically, mentally and emotionally--regardless of their sport; to place winning, losing and competing in a healthy perspective; to understand the varying natures of success and justice; to encourage parents and coaches to remember what's important in the long run; to explore how sport relates to the rest of our lives, as one component, among others, of our attempts to become balanced human beings.About the Author:
Reggie Marra coached basketball from 1975 through 1988 at Sacred heart High School in Yonkers, NY in the New York City Catholic High Schools Athletic Association. He has been an educator for three decades, including 21 years as a teacher, coach and administrator in secondary and higher education.
He is the founder of Integral Journeys for Pilgrims, Poets, Fools and Saints and a Master Teaching Artist with the Connecticut Commission on the Arts. His work integrates poetry, meditation, council, writing and story toward the goal of ongoing human growth.
