Before the Tin Lizzie retired, more than fifteen million of her kind had joined her to keep that promise and to help build that important bridge from a muscle-powered, anti-change era across a wide chasm of doubt and fear, into today's world of motors, mechanics, science, highway networks and whizzing wheels, jet planes and moon-bound rockets. The purpose of this book is to offer a new view of the Model T epoch through the eyes of a man who joined a Model T branch dealership as a flunky and entire crew of the manager, in 1915, and grew up with the development that followed, to become sole owner of a larger, modern sales and service depot with 25 employees. It is a revealing viewpoint that others failed to enjoy, and discloses numerous highly humorous incidents not previously told. The story is factual as far as memory, available records and propriety permits. Most of the names used are the actual names of real people, although several have been substituted for fictitious, for reasons very obvious to the reader. The setting is in a small Western agricultural town, but the identical Lizzie antics, the same highly humorous incidents now, but near tragic events in Lizzie's day, were happening wherever she chanced to stick her brassy snout. It is also the story of a great genius, designer, engineer, manufacturer, ethical business executive, friend of employees, the first big employer to double wages and cut employees in on company profits and—the first billionaire—Henry Ford.

Anybody ever owning a Model T Ford considers this book as necessary as a car title. Revolutionary change from the horse and buggy era brought the Tin Lizzie into almost every life, and Roscoe Sheller's wit and humor can bring it to the present day reader's life. By rattling her fenders, and responding to tinkering, the Model T was almost human. Sheller's memory and knowledge of the beloved car makes a good read for everyone.
