This catalog of solo percussion music is designed for use by performers, educators and students of the percussive arts. Its main purpose is to aid in selecting and locating performance materials useful to the solo recitalist. All works are listed alphabetically by the composer's last name. For many of the composer's a short biographical sketch is included listing date and place of birth (death), formal music education and important teachers. If all the information is available, each entry lists the title of the work followed by the year it was composed (in parentheses). Beneath each title of the instrumentation is given. If the work needs accompaniment the word "with" (in Italics) is followed by the needed information. Adjacent columns lists the duration (given in minutes: seconds), and the name, or abbreviation, of the publisher, library, clearing house or state agency. 1.The word multi-percussion designates those compositions that require a single player to perform on more than one percussion instrument. 2.The word "mallets" identifies works in which the soloist performs on two or more mallet-keyboard instruments. 3.For those works that require percussion ensemble accompaniment the instruments are listed often by player. Some foreign terms are included, the spellings used provided by the composer or found in the various scores. Appendices are provided to help the recitalist find works that feature a specific percussion instruments. The list of publishers/sources include addresses or some of the composers who have indicated that they are willing to respond directly to inquiries regarding their unpublished compositions. Composers whose works are available from publishers, clearing houses or state information services are not listed in order to keep the list size manageable.
