Dr. Daniel M. Barber is a professor of public policy and a former chair of the Graduate Center for Public Policy and Administration at California State University, and the founder and CEO of Grantwriters.com. He has bachelors and masters degrees in journalism and urban studies, and a doctorate in public administration. Dr. Barber began his grant writing career while a graduate student at the University of Miami. In 1971 he was named the first Executive Director for the South Florida Regional Planning Council where, through grants and contracts, he expanded the Council's initial membership base over 10 times its size. As Assistant Director of the Illinois Office of Manpower and Human Development, he handled multimillion-dollar grant programs in emplohment and training, community services, and economic opportunity. Dr. Barber has developed a wide variety of web-based training materials including the Grantwriters.com website of online courses and information. As Director of the Graduate Center for Public Policy and Administration, he organized one of the country's first graduate level grant writing courses.
